Coming home after Year #1 away at college. I don't know who the lady on the left is, but it's Sally Pasch in the middle and Ginny Katsuki on the right. We had gone to the University of North Dakota together.
Ginny Katsuki with her mother and cousins, Sally Pasch with parents.
Sue Aughinbaugh had a houseguest from the University of Connecticut, so we all went to the airport to see her off when she went home. Left to right: Linda Southgate, old classmate Erin Thistle (visiting from San Francisco), Sue Aughinbaugh, houseguest Harriet Brown (?), Nancy Anderson (*), Sally Pasch, Evelyn Plate, Ginny Katsuki. (*) Nancy and I were buddies when we were little girls and living in Kailua. Her maternal aunt was Serena Peitsch, married to Charlie Peitsch of Hawaii real estate fame. Nancy moved back to Portland, OR, with her mother before high school, but we stayed in touch for some years after that. Correction to the above, thanks to Patsy Gaskill. It appears that Fern was Charlie's wife, and Serena was his sister. All I remember is that I first met Charlie when he was living in a little tract house in Kailua, long before he became a mogul. I was impressed with his Pachinko machine. Oh well, who cares? Nancy was my good friend, and I would have loved her if she had been the Golem's neice. (Remember the Golem from The Hobbit?) We had all sorts of fun at Kailua Beach (like the swim with my brother and boyfriend to the island off the coast, while my parents paced the beach in a panic) and in the hills behind the town (feeding Kiawe beans to the horses [we didn't know it was bad for them] and and coasting our bikes down the hills). And she even let me wear her beautiful yellow, waffle pique dress with the double-circle skirt, the elastic shirring and the ruffled straps that could be pulled off the shoulders to make it even more glamorous. I wonder where she's gone. |
